One thing is for sure - I’m not a bird.

I rather am an unbird, unflying through the deepest grounds of the interw3bz, so to say. I don’t do as birds do just because I’m in the sky. I mean, I’m not even flying. I know who I am, I wouldn’t try to disguise myself as something other than that. No matter how hard I try, I’m not a bird, so I can’t fly. It’s simple, really. So why waste time trying to? What one person thinks of him-/herself is a very subjective description. But then again, you know yourself best, right? You know what you can do and what you can’t. And I’m trying to do what I can to be myself. = I’m an unbird. All those birds around in the virtual universe here, setting off like skyrockets and discovering strange and faraway planets with own cultures… they are just escaping from the real world. They forget who they really are. Like the Warcraft generation… I mean, why not imagine life as a videogame? With different classes you can put your character in?

Let’s see, in my case…

I’m a borderline-nerdy geek. I know a lot (not all, though) of internet memes and online “things you ought to have seen”. I have played a fair selection of videogames, not too many, but enough… I have watched and/or read manga and anime classics, Japanese dorama, trash movies and strange novels. And of course I am basically versed with computers. Nothing major, but enough to be labeled “nerd” by the average computer n00b.

I’m a musician. I have been singing for pretty much all my life, accompanied by various tries to master an instrument… they all kind of ended in failure, but it is enough to be able to play a little piano and guitar, and a minimum of violin. At the same time, I have been working on my vocals, started screaming two years ago and am building up from that. I recently started a solo project music-wise, it’s called Colouring Rainbows.

I’m an artist. I originally intended to pursue graphic design as a career… well, fate wanted me to do what I’m doing instead. Still, I love working with images, photographing, drawing and creating art. What started with manga drawings 10 years ago became a general obsession with the beauty of things… that led to my personal style in room decoration, clothes, art/layouting and whatever I start doing in that direction.

I’m a future translator and cultural scientist. I major in Japanese and English, but not only including the languages but also cultural and society-related aspects of English-speaking countries and Japan. As I am fairly close to mastering the two languages, I love using them. Talking with English native speakers and Japanese people is awesome and the main reason why I want to be a translator. Because I love the countries and the people in them, and I love talking to them!

I’m a media addict. I read, watch movies, am a heavy internet user and everything I do is accompanied by music. I cannot survive without media any more.

I’m honest, straightforward, talkative, precocious, noisy, annoying, fun, clumsy, borderline hyperactive, versatile, open-minded, frugal and a globetrotter. People usually like or hate me from the start and I’m fine with that.

You see, I am pretty much an artsy person with interest in modern mass-media and communication possibilities. What I don’t do is try to walk on a path that wasn’t paved for me. Many people dream of becoming famous when they cannot sing or act or dance or do anything else that makes them special. Others want to be a doctor when their grades in school barely keep them from getting kicked out. Life isn’t as easy. Don’t let yourself be blown away by the shit they tell you on TV. Humans can do a lot of things thanks to technical evolution… but without it, humans still couldn’t fly. Icarus wanted more than he could accomplish, he tried doing something that was doomed to failure. Even in a plane, he would have fallen.

Don’t try to be what the world seems to be obliging you to… at least not if you don’t have the feeling it’s right for you or at least you can manage to do it. Because one thing is for sure - you’re not a bird.
